UniStyle: Black Swan, ANU

This is a face I am used to seeing on people's faces when I photo-ambush them.

It is the face of UNCERTAINTY. Don't worry guys! I just wanna see your swans!
Nice Swans.

PS. as always, I really want to thank everyone who lets me take photos of them. Thanks dudes.

Fash'n Treasure win, Old Bus Depot Markets

Fash'n Treasure blew my mind.
Apparently the turn-out was unimpressive on account of Foreshore, but that just meant more cool shit for the rest of us. I bought so much for SO LITTLE MONEY.
As well as some really great vintage, people were making stuff! Don't even try to hold me back from craft.
These are earring made out of sunglasses' arms. I may never be more chuffed.
Sigh.
Now if you really wanted to go to Fash'n Treasure, but you didn't know it was on and missed it, I suggest time-travel or simply just remind yourself to check Party By Jake more often. This is where I blog and tell you about these amazing things.

Carly Q Design, Old Bus Depot Markets

Have you always wanted a minimal dress that's also feminine? Local gal Carly Q is making your dress!
The website isn't up yet but I found her at The Old Bus Depot Market's awesome event, Fash -n- Treasure.
Adorable.

UniStyle: The Clowns Weren't Giving Their Donuts to Me and They Weren't Funny, ANU

We have not mentioned that delicious Sophiatron is back in Canberra after half a year in Manchester (that is in England), and she is mulling around doing photos for CapSty. It is sooo good.

I often wonder whether to go to uni in all-black or in nefarious clown colours.
 It is a difficult choice.

UniStyle: Japonisme, ANU

We are down to restricted posts while Flick is away in England. Please pray to the Mother Goddess that the ash cloud doesn't swallow her so she can come back to us.

Hey! Ever want to dress like Garçons?
I had to struggle out an essay on Comme des Garçons' early, grey, oversized, layer-y clothes and now all I want is a big black dress to drown in.
This is the money here but I question whether even this is big enough. I am talking about, say...a tent here people.
Oh yeah, a huge CdG marquee for the style win.

PS: No-one has ever needed to know the degree of postmodernism in the above dress. HOWEVER if you DO want to know exactly that, boy! do I have the paper for you!

UniStyle: I Saw You Last In Summertime, ANU

I am, of course, talking about legs. Welcome back short skirts. Heady days of leg shaving are ahead of us girls. Sharpen your razors and rock black stockings while you can...

UniStyle: Oh Well, Maybe Next Year?, ANU

I feel like a bunch of guys would have liked to look a bit like this, this winter. Cool and warm.

UniStyle: Flowin' in the Breeze, ANU

Is it still too early to wear long, delicate, feminine skirts?

My freezy knees say yes, what the hell? it is much, much too early but more power to these girls. However, I've never writen about my own knees talking to me before, so look - we are all crossing boundaries today!

UniStyle: Girly Stockings, ANU

These are my friend Mim's stockings:
They are maybe sort of OK, I guess.

They kinda look like mold though.

UniStyle: White light, ANU

This photo, although taken back in May, has been kept in the Capital Style archives until the appropriate time. I feel that now, as temperatures reach close to zero, it is time to publish this beautiful photo which both exemplifies the inherent style of some ANU students and is a record of the warmer days past. This stylishly simple outfit immediately captured me as the solid white of her top, skirt, stockings and even her necklace don't appear bland despite the lack of bright colour. By adding accessories in brown, black and gold she breaks up this white and lends a chic quality to her outfit. I applaud this girl for her gorgeous hair and enviable ability to keep this much white clean and pristine.

Impeccables, ANU + a-little-bit-out-of-ANU

If I was a cheesy fashion-blogger, I would say that the most important accessory to Dan's characteristically well-put-together outfit is his alarmingly cute smile. I DO NOT CARE. I AM SAYING IT ANYWAY. MARRY ME. What do you think Gorgeous Coat Man?

Thumbs up!

Also, I can't say how much I love this guy's look. It's just all about wearing stuff that fits You perfectly. The little bit of bunching as the jeans hit the boots? ugh. yes.

UniStyle: Neutrals, ANU

On foggy, cold, near-winter days, when the sky looks like it's about to pour, we understand if you choose to wear your blacks and browns instead of your colours. Only condition: look as amazing as this guy. I love the slightly-too-large jacket coupled with the skinny jeans.

The shoes really are the perfect touch. Wouldn't you agree?

UniStyle: Staying warm x 2, ANU

Now that we're approaching winter, it's time to snuggle up to a warm jacket or sweater. Being a Sydney girl myself, I still find the cold in Canberra surpries me every year. What will you be wearing this season to stay warm?

14 May 2009

UniStyle: Mix'n'Match, ANU

When it comes to mid-seasons, layering is the key. It also means you can pull together an ensemble of many colours, textures and styles. I love how boldly coloured these girls are, and how effortlessly they pull it off.
Once again, effortless style. You can't see very well in this photo, but he was wearing pink frames.

*Also: I know we've been taking lots of ANU campus shots, but we are planning to scout around other areas in the near future. As soon as we develop some more skills and make some business cards, so dear Vicki can stop hand-writing our webaddress in her depleting notepad. Any places you can recommend for us to scout?

UniStyle: fuckin' rock + roll, ANU

*

*Capital Style would like to mention that we do not condone smoking unless it is for the purpose of looking freakin' cool.

I feel like this photo is a plug for a) ANU band The Trivs, b) raybans, and c) Dare icecoffee. Free samples of all of these things will be accepted by the CapSty girls (especially samples of The Trivs, mmmyes).
